Correct running-in procedures prolong ring life

Controlled load steps let new rings bed in. CCM images from April to August 2025 prove it.

What happened

After piston-ring renewal, the vessel followed the running-in programme: controlled load steps and a higher CLO feed rate, rather than rushing back to full load. The rings seated gradually against the liner.

Evidence from the CCM Timeline

Images from April to August 2025 confirm a stable liner, rings properly bedded and clean, damage-free surfaces. The alu-coat wears away gradually as ring and liner conform. Incorrect running-in shows the opposite: scuffing, blow-by and early failure.
